Baking soda has been found to be a convenient and effective skin treatment for acne as it is inexpensive and does not contain any harsh chemicals. Baking soda can be used as a facial cleanser to treat acne by combining it with 2 tablespoons lemon juice to make a paste.
The paste is effective in treating and clearing up acne because the baking soda scrubs away dirt, while the lemon juice acts as a purifying agent to tighten pores. When applying the paste scrub the affected area and then follow up with a moisturizer. This will keep skin feeling refreshed and prevent it from drying out. Baking soda and/or lemon juice not only help treat and prevent acne from occurring, they also help remove acne scars due to their exfoliating properties and natural ingredients.
Baking soda is one of incredibly the easiest ways to treat acne and is also very effective, however when using it to treat acne you should always take great care in what you are doing. Washing your face before applying the baking soda is advised. Patting your face dry before applying the baking soda is also an important step that one shouldn’t neglect. Use the baking soda no more than three times a week as you don’t want your skin to become irritated, etc.
When using baking soda it is also important to let your skin get used to it before you begin using it more frequently, so perhaps start off using it once a week and then increase to a maximum of 3 times a week only once your skin is used to it. When applying baking soda to your skin, you should make sure that you don’t dilute the baking soda too much as this will make it runny. You want your baking soda to be more consistent.
Once the baking soda has been properly applied to your face it is important to make sure that you wash it off thoroughly so that none of the baking soda is left behind. Another advantage to using home remedies such as baking soda and/or lemon for treating acne is the fact that they both include natural ingredients so they are very safe to use and you will not have to worry about side effects.
Lemon juice can be just as effective in treating acne and should be applied to the affected area gently with a cotton ball and left on for no longer than ten minutes. Begin to wash off the area thoroughly after its been on for ten minutes.
If you don’t feel comfortable using lemon for some reason there are other ingredients you can substitute within your baking soda remedies. By mixing a teaspoon of baking soda with two table spoons of filtered water you can use the exfoliating agent mixture to rub onto the acne scars for sixty seconds and then wash them off thoroughly.
