Age spots are very inconvenient no matter who a person is. No one wants to see a brown or black spot on their skin that clashes against the rest. Treatments from dermatologists and day spas can be incredibly expensive. Not to mention that laser therapy is just not a possible option for many people. So, a better solution is to use home remedies for age spots.
Home remedies are ingredients most people would not think of. Many of these ingredients are put into high dollar creams and packaged real nice for the consumer. When the truth of it is, many people can just go to the local drug store and pick up most of these supplies for usually under $10.
Most Popular Recipes
- Lemon Juice – One of the most common home remedies is lemon juice. Take a slice of lemon and squeeze out fresh juice. Use a cotton swab and apply it to the face or area of skin that needs treating twice a day. Leave on the skin for no more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Apple vinegar – Apple vinegar seems to be another common ingredient in home recipes for age spots removal. One recipe calls for mixing apple vinegar and horseradish together. This should be applied to the area three times a day.
- Onion juice – Another remedy is to finely chop onion, extract the juice, and then take 2 tablespoons of the juice and 2 tablespoons of apple vinegar and mix them together. Apply this directly to the area and it should work to lighten or diminish the spots.
Other Recipes
Two teaspoons of apple vinegar and two teaspoon of fresh orange juice applied to the skin has had many positive results. This is possibly due to large amount of acid in this recipe.
Applying fresh garlic juice to the area daily or rubbing a piece of sliced red onion onto it are other choices, though the smell might repel some. Castor seems to have many fans. Dabbing it onto the skin with a cotton ball or applying it to large affected areas with a bandage seems to be common remedies.
Be Patient
Of course, natural skin lightening home remedies are not like what a person can buy in stores. They are not for a quick fix. Home remedies require patience. Most results are not seen until a few months in.
There are those who see results sooner, but that all depends on how the body reacts. Each body reacts differently to everything around it, put on it, or in it. Results do typically occur with these home remedies, but the expected time for seeing them is 2 to 3 months.
