Adiphene contains 12 active natural ingredients aimed at helping clients lose weight. Most of them you will already know – and may be surprised that they are included here (i.e. chocolate … Okay, cocoa extract, the “good” part of chocolate).
Here’s what’s in Adiphene and what each ingredient is said to accomplish. These ingredients are grouped in alphabetical order, NOT by the quantity found in the supplement. These are the active ingredients that help you lose weight, and do not include any binders, fillers or other items that may or may not be present in the formulation.

1. Bitter orange – Stimulant
An extract of the peels of the bitter orange (also known as the Seville orange) is used for a variety of health purposes, such as upset stomach, headache, appetite suppressant and as a metabolic stimulant (thermogenic – literally, “heating” the body). According to a clinical trial from the Journal of Medicine 2002, bitter orange is “the best thermogenic substitute for ephedra.” (Ephedra is a shrub banned in the 1990′s for causing too many health problems.)
2. Cocoa extract – Stimulant
Cocoa (from the cocoa bean) contains theobromine, which helps inhibit fat storage. It also contains polyphenols, which are said to increase fat metabolism. Along with the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties already known, who thought chocolate packed such a powerful punch?
One study shows that these compounds block the enzymes in your gut that normally digest fats and some types of carbohydrates. Instead of the fat being absorbed into your body, they are instead flushed out of your system, unprocessed.
However, don’t go reaching for a chocolate bar! All the health benefits are erased with the addition of sugar and cocoa butter into the mix, never mind all the other ingredients in a typical snack.
3. Cayenne capsicum 40M HU/G – Thermogenic
Available in Adiphene in a 12:2 concentration, cayenne capsicum both “heats” your body up and helps suppress appetite (eat a cayenne pepper whole to find out!) A study in the 2009 Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed capsaisin (capsicum) can reduce ghrelin, aka “the hunger hormone,” in the body.
What happens when a thermogenic compound enters your body? Your core temperature and metabolism speeds up, burning fat and aiding in digestion. Blood flow increases, opening up the smaller vessels such as that found in your fat cells. This means capsicum also acts as a carrier for other compounds in the pill to more effectively target and burn those stubborn areas of fat deposits.
4. Chitosan extract – Fat Binder
Chitosan is made from the shells of crustaceans such as lobster and shrimp. It is indigestible, which means it will simply pass through your body. However, along the way, it binds to fat molecules in the stomach for less total absorption. Chitosan can attract and hold 6 times its weight in fat, according to researchers.
The scientists who developed Adiphene know you’ll eat that occasional double cheeseburger – this is where chitosan extract will work hard to make sure most of the grease doesn’t end up around your waist!
5. Chromium picolinate – Stimulant
Chromium is a natural-occuring mineral found in meats, fish and whole grains. Modern processing unfortunately strips out most of this important ingredient. It is thought that chromium picolinate aids in stimulating and transporting insulin around the body to where it’s needed.
Properly functioning insulin controls your levels of fat in the body, decreases your cravings for carbohydrates and, of course, prevents diabetes.
6. Cinnamon Extract 4% – Thermogenic
Some studies indicate that cinnamon can reduce insulin resistance and lower fasting blood glucose levels. The chemical flavon-3-o is believed to be responsible for this mechanism. When you eat, cinnamon lowers a meal’s “glycemic effect”, meaning your blood sugar levels will rise more slowly.
When blood-sugar levels elevate due to ingestion of carbohydrates (which your body converts to glucose), insulin is released around the body to transport this sugar, increasing your energy. However, any left-over glucose is then stored as … you guessed it, fat. Cinnamon extract seems to inhibit this.
7. Ginger root extract – Fat Metabolizer
Ginger root is one of those powerhouses of remedies, being used to aid in digestion and helps detoxify the body. It’s used to treat nausea, boost the immune system and treat muscle pain.It also helps speed up metabolism, which is why it is included in the formula. Similar to hot peppers, it “heats up” your body, burning fat more efficiently.
8. Ginseng panax root 10% – Stimulant
Researchers believe panax ginseng may moderate carbohydrate absorption. In a recent study, a chemical called ginsenoside Rg3 may be responsible for blocking cells from forming into fat cells, thereby slowing the process of gaining weight.
Excess carbohydrates can not only mean more weight and fat on your body, but more insulin resistance as well, creating a vicious cycle. Ginseng slows down this process of fat production, potentially stimulating your body to better manage blood sugar levels.
9. Glucomannan – Appetite Suppressor
Glucomannan (konjac root) is well known in the diet industry as an appetite suppressant. It is an effective fiber that absorbs water. If you take pure glucomannan powder and mix it in water, it will quickly expand, turning water into a thick paste. This is what gives you the feeling of fullness in the stomach.
Konjac is a plant native to southeast Asia, and is used as a food source in flour, jellies (known as the Thai snack lychee jelly) and Japanese shirataki noodles. Japanese “yam cakes” are also made from this plant, though it is no relation to yams. It is also widely used as a thickening powder for vegan food products.
10. Guarana extract – Stimulant
Guarana comes from the seeds of a shrub native to South America. As a supplement, it fights fatigue due to its high caffeine content – twice that of coffee. However, unlike coffee, Guarana is absorbed relatively slowly, for a sustained, long-lasting effect on energy, alertness and metabolism levels.
Guarana has long been the main ingredient in several Brazilian energy drinks, and is becoming increasingly known in North America. Additionally, studies show it also acts as an appetite suppressant.
11. L-carnitine HCL – Fat Metabolizer
L-carnitine HCL is an amino acid naturally produced in the body. Its main function is to convert fat into energy for muscle cells. As a supplement, it is well known in the fitness industry as a fat mobilizer and muscle builder. One study showed an 11-fold increase in weight loss in carnitine users v. a placebo over the course of 12 weeks.
Other studies show mixed results, which is why we say it’s possibly useful for weight loss and increased muscle mass. However, it is well-known as an antioxidant, healing your body and especially protecting your heart. It also shows promise as a mental improvement drug in patients with Alzheimer’s and depression.
12, Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) – Fat Metabolizer
This water soluble vitamin is necessary for your overall health. It’s found in nearly all foods, including grains, vegetables and fish. People lacking leafy vegetables in their diet may not get enough. It in an essential ingredient in keeping your metabolism in good working order, can boost metabolism and helps with the body’s absorption of zinc and magnesium. It also converts nutrients so they’re available for immediate usage in the body.
Overall, the correct amount of vitamin B6 in the body aids and boosts metabolism. Please research all ingredients in any diet supplement, including natural/herbal ingredients, before taking any supplement.
